Low-Wage Labour Working Group

Presentation

Low-wage work is often found in sectors with a high proportion of women and migrants, and remains largely invisible in both social and academic debates. The Low-Wage Labour Working Group addresses this issue and places these forms of work at the center of its focus.

The network offers researchers from various disciplines—such as sociology, gender studies, or labor geography—a space for substantive and methodological exchange on low-wage work in its various facets and forms. The goal is to foster theoretical, methodological, and empirical discussions and to connect researchers working at the intersection of low-wage work, gender, migration, and social inequality.

In person meetings of the network take place four times a year to exchange ideas and strengthen connections. The substantive interests and research priorities are diverse—what they share is a focus on feminist and intersectional perspectives, as well as an interest in socially engaged research that addresses political and social issues, critically discusses them, and intervenes in debates outside the academy.

We use a mailing list to share relevant publications, events, and opportunities for collaboration in this field of research. If you are interested in getting involved or have any questions for the Low-Wage Labour Network, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to hearing from you!
