Mandate and services
The dictionary is an encyclopaedic work that combines linguistic and lexical research with ethnographic interest. Its primary source is an archive assembled during the first half of the 20th century.
The dictionary has been in publication since 1952. The institute is part of the Centro di dialettologia e di etnografia, based in Bellinzona. The team responsible for the dictionary is employed by the Canton of Ticino, which manages Centro di dialettologia e di etnografia.
