Funding

Our institutes provide foundation materials: a lexicon of Swiss history, editions of diplomatic documents, information on policy projects, an inventory of coin finds and a subject portal for historical science. The teams publish specialist articles and communicate knowledge to the media and public.

We fund Switzerland’s four National Dictionaries. They are also institutes of SAGW. The research teams make and keep records of the languages and dialects spoken in Switzerland, publish dictionaries and share linguistic knowledge with the public at large.

We currently fund eight long-term publishing projects. The project teams collect historical file records and publish manuscripts written by and records from the estates of important individuals. By doing so, they make them accessible to researchers.

International conferences are a forum for dialogue in the scientific community. We contribute to the travel costs of people from Swiss universities who attend conferences abroad.

Each year, we make an award to three scientific articles by researchers in an early stage of their career. Applications are accepted from all humanities and social science disciplines. A jury reviews the submissions.
