Année Politique Suisse has been documenting key events in Swiss politics since 1965. The institute analyses political processes and the results of popular votes and provides materials and abstracts.

Année Politique Suisse’s research team observes policy projects from inception to decision of the people. The researchers summarise studies and reports, collect precedential court verdicts and trace developments in the political landscape. Année Politique Suisse operates digital platforms that provide analyses and materials, including the Swissvotes database on Swiss popular votes.

Année Politique Suisse was founded in 1965 by historian Erich Gruner, then director of the centre for historical and sociological research in Swiss politics. Année Politique Suisse has been a long-term undertaking of SAGW since 2005 and is financed by it. The University of Bern funds the director’s post, one assistant’s post and infrastructure costs. The staff of Année Politique Suisse are also employed by the University.
