Each year, Recto Verso explores a socially relevant issue from different scientific perspectives. The events are run by SAGW member societies and institutes and are open to the public.
Aim of the project
Each year, the Recto Verso event series takes up a socially relevant issue and explores it from different perspectives. The events are organised by SAGW’s member societies or institutes and illustrate the diversity in the humanities and social sciences. These events take place throughout Switzerland and are intended for a wide audience.
2026/27 cycle: Truth and social cohesion
In 2026/27, the Recto Verso event series will be creating a space for reflection and debate on truth, interpretative authority and the conditions for social cohesion. What is the meaning of truth? Who decides what is to be considered true – and in whose interests? How can disinformation be tackled without restricting the diversity of voices? What role do social media and algorithms play? And how can a culture of debate be fostered that does not descend into polarization, but instead builds trust and strengthens cohesion?
