About us !
The Swiss Association for Gender Studies (SAGS) is the principal professional organization in Gender Studies for Switzerland. It promotes gender studies in Switzerland in its unique theoretical and thematic diversity and represents its interests, particularly in Swiss politics of higher education.
Gender studies is an interdisciplinary and highly differentiated field of research: SAGS aims to institutionalize this diversity, to make it visible, but also to promote exchange and cooperation between gender researchers – both nationally and internationally. SAGS helps to ensure that gender research in Switzerland assumes an important role as an innovative field of knowledge.

The Swiss Association for Gender Studies is open to lecturers, students and professionals alike.
All members have voting and election rights and pay an annual membership fee. The fee is determined by the members’ assembly and currently amounts to:
Students (BA and MA) : 30 CHF
Individual membership, reduced (PhD students, no or little income) : 60 CHF
Individual membership (up to CHF 100’000 annual income) : 100 CHF
Individual membership (above CHF 100’000 annual income) : 200 CHF
Collective membership (institutions) : 300 CHF
Lifetime membership : 2000 CHF

Members’ Assembly
The Members’ Assembly is convened once a year by the Board of Directors. A written invitation with a provisional agenda is sent to the members by e-mail at least four weeks before the date of the assembly.
This meeting offers all members the opportunity to get involved, but also to find out what activities have taken place over the past year, what the research networks have done and what is planned for the future.
Every other year, SAGS organizes a public round table following its general meeting. These usually address topics from gender research that are relevant to a wider audience and current feminist issues.
Alternating with this, a public lecture is held every other year following the Members’ Assembly as part of the Brigitte Schnegg Prize ceremony.
