This publication aims to document what has happened in Colombia over the past twenty-five years, not only in terms of the sensational aspects widely reported by the press—such as the guerrillas, the (numerous) displaced persons, political gridlock, corruption, and other upheavals. The authors also address other, less war-torn topics, such as constitutional changes and the rights of indigenous and Afro-descendant minorities, as well as the state and significance of literature and music, and of indigenous arts and customs, which reflect the true soul of a nation.
