Commissions

The Anthropology and Education Commission is dedicated to opening an academic space for debate around education, as a focus of anthropological inquiry, and to discussing the (empirical and theoretical) potential of educational issues in the field of anthropology.

The main purpose of the Commission for Audio-Visual Anthropology (CAV) is to expand, curate, and archive the audio-visual collection of the Swiss Anthropological Association (SAA).

The DocPostDoc Commission was established to create a more robust structure for addressing issues relevant to anthropologists in precarious or non-permanent positions at PhD and postdoc levels.

The Commission CRED (Ethical and Deontological Think Tank, in English) brings together both junior and senior researchers to explore the ethical implications of anthropological research and the various aspects of knowledge production (fieldwork, analysis, publication, dissemination, etc.)

The Interface Commission aims to enhance the visibility and presence of engaged anthropology in the public sphere while promoting engagement and knowledge production regarding broader societal dynamics in response to the global challenges of our time.

The MAS aim is to promote communication between representatives of different disciplines who deal with social, cultural, biomedical and psychiatric-psychological aspects of health and illness..

In 2025, the Museum Commission decided to focus its work on a new long-term initiative: the creation of an updated inventory of ethnographic collections in Switzerland.

The Editorial Commission is the publisher of the journal of the Swiss Anthropological Association.

The Science Commission is responsible for organising the annual meetings of the SAA.
