The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) “Social Sciences and Humanities & Epidemic Management” is now open for registration. The course was developed as part of the Alliance SHS Africa project, in which Joel Djaha, former visiting scholar at the Center for African Studies Basel, participated as a lecturer. The course deals with qualitative methods in SSH, their application in the context of health emergencies and the associated methodological and ethical challenges.

In this MOOC, you will learn how to:

• Demonstrate the contribution of SHS to the response to epidemics;
• Master the key concepts of qualitative research in social and human sciences applied to health;
• Understand the ethical and methodological challenges of qualitative research;
• Choosing the right methods for producing data in the context of a health emergency;
• Discover the principles and issues involved in various approaches to disseminating scientific knowledge in order to maximise the impact of research;

The course is offered in French with English subtitles, is completely free and starts on November 19, 2024.
