As part of the Benin Initiative Switzerland, the forum “Restitution and Beyond” will take place on October 26, 2024 at Museum Rietberg in collaboration with the University of Zurich. International experts from Nigeria, Germany and Switzerland will discuss restitution, the new ethics of relationships and the question of what the museum of the future might look like.

The public event will focus on the conclusion of the Benin Initiative Switzerland as well as the discussion of the initiated processes of a possible transfer of ownership regarding the objects that were looted or most likely looted in 1897. The research results and the restitution process will be reflected upon and placed in a wider context of cooperation and restitution.

The event will take place from 13:30 to 17:30 and is free of charge. The program is available for download.
