Richard Beaudoin (Harvard University)
On the Art of Composing with Micro-Temporal Data

SMG Sektion Luzern

Dr Richard Beaudoin (Faculty of Music, Harvard University) will speak about his use of micro-temporal data as a compositional material within fully-notated, acoustic works. He will discuss specific technical, notational, and aesthetic issues, and relate his work to the cantus firmus tradition, spectralism and traditions of musical borrowing. The talk will focus on his Études d'un prélude (2009-10), a series of twelve compositions for various ensembles based on Martha Argerich's 1975 recording of Chopin’s Prelude op. 28/4 in E minor.

Moderation: Olivier Senn

Das Referat wird in englischer Sprache gehalten.
