REELC/ENCLS members' newsletter

Dear REELC/ENCLS member,

Welcome to the first REELC/ENCLS members' newsletter, which contains
the main updates and information about REELC/ENCLS.

1. The Third International Congress of the REELC/ENCLS, on
TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE EUROPEAN LANDSCAPE: ENCOUNTERS BETWEEN THE SELF
AND THE OTHER, will be hosted by the Lithuanian Comparative Literature
Association, in cooperation with Vilnius Pedagogical University and
the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore, 11-13 September
2009.
The deadline for proposals has been extended to 25 January 2009.
Suggested topics include:
   1) The Changing Cultural Map of Europe.
   2) A Museum of European Images.
   3) Narratives of Journeys
   4) Rhetoric of Identity in Contemporary Europe.
   5) The Reception of Lithuanian literature and culture in other
European countries.
The organisers are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nijole Leonora Kaselioniene
(<nijolekas@yahoo.com>) and Lect. Dr. Zydrone Kolevinskiene
(<llla@vpu.lt>, <zkolevinske@gmail.com>)

In 2009, Vilnius will also be European Capital of Culture. We look
forward to seeing many of you there!


2. We now have a group of regional moderators who will help us collect
and disseminate the information about events of interest taking place
in Europe. Details will soon be published on our web site.

3. Watch this space also for important information to be published
early in the new year about modalities and deadlines for nominations
to the Executive Committee of the REELC/ENCLS, invitations to host the
fourth REELC/ENCLS International Congress in 2011, and much more else.

4. As you know, the REELC/ENCLS web site offers members the
possibility to publish announcements (books, jobs, conferences...),
and it can host forum discussions on topics posted by members. As a
new feature of the REELC/ENCLS web page, from the next issue of this
newsletter, registered members will now also receive a digest of new
relevant announcements.
