For Thoughts without Borders. Statement by the Swiss Ethnological Society (SEG) on the Consequences of the Initiative “Against Mass Immigration”

Die Swiss Ethnological Society issues a statement on the Consequences of the Initiative “Against Mass Immigration”.

On February 9th 2014, Swiss voters accepted the “Mass-Immigration-Initiative” of the Swiss People’s Party. This acceptance has since led to the termination of Switzerland’s participation in Erasmus+ and Horizon 2020 by the EU. For research and teaching this means a restriction of the free transfer of knowledge. It also points towards a disturbing manifestation of growing xenophobia.
