ISEK Zurich: Postdoc-Position in Social Anthropology

Vacancy Postdoc-Position in Social Anthropology at the Department of Social Anthropology and Cultural Studies (ISEK), Chair of Prof. Dr. Johannes Quack, University of Zurich, Switzerland.

Responsibilities
As a Postdoc, you will work on your own research project(s), teach and supervise students on BA- and MA-levels (three classes per year, i.e. 1,5 per semester), and contribute to other fields of activity, such as: participation in the Social Anthropology Colloquium Series and other events organized at ISEK, support of the chair in administrative tasks, participation in committees and commissions.

Terms of employment
The position offers attractive working conditions and a competitive salary (employment of 75% according to cantonal guidelines). Initially, the employment is limited to three years but may be extended up to nine years on the basis of positive evaluations.


Requirements
A PhD in Social Anthropology or related disciplines, as well as experience in research and teaching. Desired, but not necessary are theoretical and empirical interests in the fields of the anthropology of religion and/or ethics and/or knowledge/science and/or medical anthropology, interest in South Asia as well as German language skills.


Starting date
August 1, 2019 or by mutual agreement.

At the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Vienna the position of a

University Professor of International Development

(full time, permanent position; in case of a first time appointment to a professorship, the appointment may be initially limited - with an extension option) is to be filled. 

The professorship is dedicated to development research from a political science perspective. Expected are research and teaching knowledge of current discourses on development, theories and intersectional concepts of development, as well as empirical research in thematic fields of development research from a political science perspective. Participation transdisciplinary teaching and research as well as administrative tasks are expected.

 Successful candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree/PhD and post-doctoral experience at a university or other research institution
  • Habilitation (venia docendi) in a subject field relevant to this position or an internationally accepted equivalent qualification is desirable
  • Outstanding achievements in research, excellent publication record, international reputation
  • Experience in designing, procuring and managing large research projects, as well as the willingness and ability to lead research groups
  • Enthusiasm for excellent teaching, teaching experience at universities as well as the ability and willingness to teach students in all phases of their studies (bachelor's, master's, or doctoral level), to supervise academic theses and to promoting young academic colleagues

Die HES-SO Valais-Wallis bildet über 2’000 Studierende in 9 Bachelorstudiengängen aus und leistet über ihre 8 Forschungsinstitute einen bedeutenden Beitrag zur Innovation, zur wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Entwicklung sowie zur Schaffung von Arbeitsplätzen.

Die Hochschule für Soziale Arbeit der HES-SO Valais-Wallis sucht eine/n Assistenzprofessor/in für den Bereich Alter und intergenerationale Beziehungen

IHRE AUFGABE

  • Unterricht und Forschung auf dem Gebiet der intergenerationalen Beziehungen
  • Akquisition, Durchführung und Valorisierung von Forschungsprojekten in diesem Bereich
  • Koordination der interdisziplinären Forschungstätigkeiten der HES-SO Valais-Wallis auf diesem Gebiet
  • Mitarbeit an Forschungsprojekten in verwandten Bereichen

IHR PROFIL

  • Doktorat in Sozialer Arbeit oder in einem anderen Bereich der Sozialwissenschaften
  • Erfahrung in der Forschung in Zusammenhang mit intergenerationalen Beziehungen
  • Gute Kenntnisse der Theorie und der Methoden der sozialwissenschaftlichen Forschung
  • Interesse an der Unterrichtstätigkeit
  • Muttersprache Deutsch oder Französisch mit sehr guten Kenntnissen der 2. Sprache
  • Mindestens 5 Jahre einschlägige Berufserfahrung
