Sustainable Use of Resources - from Evidence to Intervention

Thursday 29. January 2015 — University of Basel, Faculty of Business and Economics

‘Sustainable Use of Resources – from Evidence to Intervention’ conference

Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences, organized by SAHS

This issue of resources is not something which can be tackled using only technical means. It requires measures on an individual level (behaviour), a social level (structures, governance) and in the economic arena (recycling management, dematerialisation of consumption).

Common research agenda
The conference’s discussions will focus on potential social and humanities research approaches. The aim is to improve the visibility of existing research contributions, reflect on a common research agenda and demonstrate potential research formats (NFP, Sinergia, NCCR).

Stalls and workshops
Five stalls will present the clusters of sustainable consumption, environmental justice, resource-efficient production, political control of resource use and sustainable provision of resources. Researchers match their own research projects to the various clusters. During the afternoon, these clusters will be discussed in workshops. The aim is to introduce ongoing projects, present project ideas and find partners if need be, or jointly develop an idea for an entirely new project.

Umweltprobleme gehen nicht nur Naturwissenschafter etwas an
(Markus Hofmann, NZZ, 2. Februar 2015)

Call for Mini-Posters

To gain an initial overview of current research projects, we ask researchers in the humanities and social sciences to submit a mini poster of their project in the field of sustainability / use of resources.
