The supreme board of the SAHS taking decisions is the general assembly. It takes place once a year at the occasion of the annual meeting of the SAHS. The president of each scientific organisation and one further delegate take part in the annual general assembly to represent their organisation. The associated members are present in their advisory capacity. The delegates are in charge of the election of the board of directors, the approval of the annual report and the annual statement of account, for the allocation of the financial contributions and for setting-up new commissions. They give their opinions on propositions of the board of directors or of the member organisations.
