We are delighted to announce the forthcoming CUSO English Professionalization Module:

Tools for Digital Humanities: A Practical Workshop
University of Neuchâtel, Saturday 28 November 09.00-17.00
FLSH, Room R.E.42

Teacher: Prof. Elena Pierazzo, Professor of Italian Literature and Digital Humanities, l’université Stendhal Grenoble III

Organisers: Erzsi Kukorelly (Geneva), Lucy Perry (Lausanne), and Patrick Vincent (Neuchâtel).

Digital Editing, Digital Publishing

This module aims to give students ways of approaching aspects of their doctoral research in terms of digital publication and/or projects, by giving them hands-on experience in using digital technology. Specifically, it will provide participants with an introduction to digital textual editing using technologies such as XML, TEI and CSS. It will enable doctoral students to encode and visualise texts by using existing open-source tools as well as by developing their own simple style-sheets. Such skills will also be useful to students in their post-doctoral careers, in or beyond academia.

Students will need to bring their own laptops, and will be asked to download and install some open-access software, in advance of the workshop.

Registration is now open at http://english.cuso.ch/upcoming-modules/. Early registration is encouraged.
